2/6 Saturday - Celebrate the 29th anniversary of York County's "Party of the Year", with dancing, food, and auction.  This will be the final Gala Celebration.  Advance tickets available at the Museum of York County.

2/20, 2/21, and 2/27 - Animal Rehabilitators of the Carolinas are holding classes for people interested in joining their efforts to preserve and restore wildlife to its natural habitat.

Saturdays, ongoing - 10am -4pm, "Living History".  Historic Brattonsville: witness life in the Carolina Backcountry during 18th and 19th centuries.  Activities and demonstrations vary weekly.

Every Sunday - Free admission to the Museum of York County.

1/1 Friday noon - The annual New Year's Day Barefoot Challenge!  Lake Wylie's own Carolina Show Ski Team travels to Lake Norman to compete in this bone chilling competition.  Come and watch!

1/7 Thursday 7pm - Clover School District Auditorium Performing Arts Series presents grand pianist Emilt Pandolli.

1/7 Thur - Allison Creek Bluegrass, first and third Thursday of each month, corner of Hands Mill Road and Allison Creek Road.  Different bands are featured each night, along with open jam sessions.  Food is available beginning 6:30pm.

1/9 Saturday 7pm - The Carolina Chocolate Drops perform fiddle and banjo usic of the early twentieth century, McCelvey Center in York.

1/15 -3/14 - Third annual "Orchid Spectacular" will open with the Piedmont Orchid Society's annual show on January 15.  It will continue thru mid-March with classes, displays, and sale at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Mark your calendars!

1/15 Friday 6:30pm - "An Evening of Orchids ", reservations required for this elegant evening to celebrate the beauty of orchids at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Wine bar, music, auction.

1/18 11am - African Rhythms at the Museum of York County.

1/29 all day - Prepare for snow and wintery weather.  Go to store.  Buy milk and bread.  Get some propane for the grill.  Do it all with a with a sense of urgency.  Rent some movies.  We might be stuck inside for a WHOLE DAY.

1/31 9pm - Annual wedding showcase at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
