Month of September 2010 - Activities and Events

Daily - Feature exhibit "Pirates" at the Schiele Museum.  Interactive exhibit for the whole family, thru December.

9/1-30 - "Something's A-flutter " at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Annual butterfly exhibit in the Orchid Conservatory as hundreds of the beautiful creatures fill the air.

9/1 Wednesday - "Moonlight Micro-brews Cruise" at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, beginning 5:30pm. Flatwater paddle on the Catawba, with campfire dinner and beer tasting.

9/2 Thur - Allison Creek Bluegrass, first and third Thursday of each month, corner of Hands Mill Road and Allison Creek Road.  Different bands are featured each night, along with open jam sessions.  Food is available beginning 6:30pm.

9/2 - Main Street Live presents free summer concerts in downtown Rock Hill.  Food Vendors, door prizes, and of course, music.  5:30-9:30pm. 

9/2 Thursday - "Riverjam" at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, featuring Big Daddy Love, beginning 7pm. Free concert series on Thursdays and Saturdays.

9/3-6 - Take a little road trip to Hendersonville, NC for the annual Apple Festival, held on Labor day Weekend.  Entertainment, parade, street dance, and more.

9/6 Monday 11am-5pm- Labor Day is the last day open for Carowinds Boomerang Bay, the waterpark filled with thrilling slides, a giant wave pool, lots of water playgrounds for the tots, and cool fun for the whole family

9/6 Monday 12:15 - Take me out to the ballgame!  Labor Day picnic special with all you can eat hamburgers, hotdogs & fixin's, plus a ticket to watch the Charlotte Knights play ball.

9/6 Monday - Have your own picnic at McDowell Nature Center.  With miles of walking trails, lakeside picnic tables, and a nature center, it's a great place to spend the day.

9/6 Monday 11am - Annual Charlotte Labor Day Parade in uptown.  Largest Labor Day parade in the Southeastern U.S.! Begins at the Hal Marshall Cener and ends at Tryon and 3rd.  Visit the Epicenter while in town.

9/16-18 and 9/24-25 7pm - Fort Mill Community Playhouse presents the dinner theater production "Catfish Moon ".  Dinner is served at 7pm, followed by the performance at 8pm.

9/17 Saturday - Brady Dee Foundation benefit with special guest, Damon Hill at Wylie Gators in Lake Wylie.

9/23-9/26 - The 46th Annual Charlotte Festival in the Park, promoting interest in the arts.  Arts and crafts, music and entertainment.  Nearly a thousand entertainers perform in many stages around Freedom Park in Charlotte.

9/24-25 7pm - Fort Mill Community Playhouse presents the dinner theater production "Catfish Moon ".  Dinner is served at 7pm, followed by the performance at 8pm.

9/25 Saturday - Tega Cay's Concert Series in the Park presents The Stranger (a tribute to Billy Joel), Runde Field, 6pm. Enjoy food & beverages, inflatables for the kids!

9/16 Thursday - "Riverjam" at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, featuring The Holdouts, beginning 7pm. Free concert series on Thursdays and Saturdays.

9/17 Friday - "Scarowinds" opens at CarowindsThe annual Halloween fest at Carowinds.  Not for the faint of heart . . .  select nights thru 10/31.

9/23-9/26 - The 44th Annual Festival in the Park, promoting interest in the arts.  Arts and crafts, music and entertainment.  Nearly a thousand entertainers perform in many stages around Freedom Park in Charlotte.

9/24 - "Bug Ball " at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  A family friendly fundraiser event with specialty foods, drinks, entertainment, and butterfly releases.

9/25 Saturday - Live entertainment by the Jill Dineen Band at Wylie Gators in Lake Wylie.

9/25: US National Whitewater Center hosts Riverboound Race series with a half marathon footrace winding through the trails at the Whitewater center.

10/2-3 - "AutumnFaire" at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Art comes alive thru this nature based show and sale.  Artists feature plants, gardens and nature in their arts and crafts.

10/2 Saturday 8pm - Clover School District Auditorium Performing Arts Series features Kathy Mattea, that's right, Kathy Mattea!  Right here in Clover.

Thru 10/11 daily - "Something's Aflutter" at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens.  Thousands of butterflies released in the Orchid Conservatory and in the gardens.  Special events and educational sessions for the whole family.

10/1 -4 - Blues Festival in Rock Hill at the Dalton Gallery, Center for the Arts in Rock Hill.

10/1 Thursday - Lake Wylie Chamber Golf Tournament. Followed by Business after Golf, held at the River Hills Country Club, beginning at 5:30.

10/24 10am-4pm - 22nd Annual Tega Cay Fall Festival at Runde Park.  A full day of food, fun, craft show, and entertainment.

Thursday 12/3-Sunday 12/6 - "Christmasville" in downtown Rock Hill!  A charming holiday village and outdoor walking festival in Rock Hill's historic Old Town.  Events include the Reindeer Romp 5K, Journey to Bethlehem outdoor pageant, a Festival of Trees Cocktail Crawl, and much more!

12/3 Thursday - Tega Cay Christmas Tree lighting, Philip T. Glennon Community Center in Tega Cay.

12/4 Friday 6:30pm - Rock Hill Christmas parade, themed "Light Up The Night."  Showcasing lighted floats, the parade route starts on Oakland Avenue at Winthrop University and travels downtown.

12/4-6 - Rock Hill Community Theater presents "The Christmas Bus", 7pm on Fri and Saturday, 3pm matinee on Sunday.

12/4 Friday - Fort Mill's Baxter Village presents a Holiday Celebration and tree lighting.

12/5 Saturday thru 12/20 - "The Real Christmas Story" by NarroWay Productions, 3346 Hwy 21 Fort Mill.  Schedule varies by week; see website for details.

12/5 Saturday 2:30-4:30 - Santa's Workshop at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Santa tells a story, leads the kids in song, then elves help the children create a gift for someone on their list!

12/5 Saturday 11am - Fort Mill Christmas parade, lining up on Leroy Street and continuing to the Union Cemetery. 

12/5 Saturday - Tega Cay Craft Show, Philip T. Glennon Community Center in Tega Cay.  Free pictures with Santa, cookies and drinks.

7/4 - The Charlotte Knights host WBT's SkyShow at Knights Stadium following the baseball game.

7/4 - The U.S. National Whitewater Center 4th of July Festival includes games, rafting, live music, food and family activities, followed by fireworks at 9pm.
