Month of December 2011 - Lake Wylie Activities and Events

Thru December 18 - Take a ride on Sheba the Camel! What a fun picture for your Christmas cards.  Also see "The Real Christmas Story" by NarroWay Productions, 3346 Hwy 21 Fort Mill.  Schedule varies by week; see website for details.

12/1-12/31 - "Holiday Lights " at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  An outdoor display with more than 600,000 lights, carriage rides, carols, baked treats and more.

12/1-12/26 - "Christmas Town, USA" - If you've never been to McAdenville at Christmastime, perhaps this is the year.  Town residents use about a half million lights to decorate this tiny NC town, for the pleasure of about 600,000 visitors a year!  Don't be in a hurry, and take some hot chocolate for the ride.

Thursday 12/1-Sunday 12/2 - "Christmasville" in downtown Rock Hill!  A charming holiday village and outdoor walking festival in Rock Hill's historic Old Town.  Events include the Reindeer Romp 5K, Journey to Bethlehem outdoor pageant, a Festival of Trees Cocktail Crawl, and much more!

12/2 Friday - Holiday Celebration and tree lighting in Baxter Village, Fort Mill. 

12/2 Friday 6:30pm - Rock Hill Christmas parade, themed "Light Up The Night."  Showcasing lighted floats, the parade route starts on Oakland Avenue at Winthrop University and travels downtown.

12/3 Saturday 11am - Fort Mill Christmas parade, lining up on Leroy Street and continuing to the Union Cemetery. 

12/3 - "Santa's Workshop" at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Storytime, crafts, and a tram ride with Santa.

12/3 Saturday 6pm - Tega Cay Christmas Tree lighting, Philip T. Glennon Community Center in Tega Cay.  Santa will be there!

12/4 Sunday 3:00pm - Clover's 41st annual Christmas parade, hosted by Al Conklin from Channel 3 WBTV as Grand Marshall.

12/4 - "Holiday Tea" at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  Celebrate the traditional English way with tea in the garden.

12/6 Tuesday 4pm - Belmont Christmas parade, coordinated by the Montcross Area Chamber of Commerce.

12/7 Wednesday 4:30pm - York Christmas parade, beginning on South Congress St.  Proceeds from the parade go to PATH, a nonprofit agency assisting those in need in York.

12/8 Thursday 6:30pm - Lake Wylie Chamber's Annual Holiday Gala held at the River Hills Country Club.  Reservations required!

12/8, 12/10, 12/11 - Holiday concert by the SC state championship choir, the Clover High Choraliers.  Performances at 8pm on Thursday and Saturday, and Sunday matinee at 3pm.

12/9-11 - The holiday tradition!  North Carolina Dance Theatre presents "The Nutcracker", Belk Theater.

12/10 Saturday 6:30pm - Annual Lights on the Lake holiday boat parade.  Boats will meet at T-Bones on the Lake to line up, and the route spans both sides of the Buster Boyd Bridge.  Best viewing is from the deck at T-Bones and the boat landing.

12/10 Saturday 9pm - The Sylvia Theater in York presents "Trial by Fire: A Journey Tribute". 

12/10-11 - Annual Pilgrimage of Christmas in Olde York, presented by the Yorkville Historical Society.  Seven historic homes and buildings will be decorated and on display, with carriage rides and music. 

12/10-11 - Christmas Candlelight Tours at Historic Brattonsville McConnells.

12/15-18 Thursday - Sunday - For those who want to stay in York County, see the Nutcracker by the York County Ballet company, Winthrop University's Johnson Hall Theater.

12/16-18 - The holiday tradition!  North Carolina Dance Theatre presents "The Nutcracker", Belk Theater.

12/17 Saturday 8pm-1am - T-Bones annual Masquerade Christmas Ball!  Music, open bar, and hors d'oeuvres buffet.  Purchase tickets in advance, T-Bones on the Lake.

12/17 Saturday 1pm - This one is on the "far end" of the county, but well worth the drive:  The Lowrys Christmas parade features horse-drawn vehicles and tractors only - - no trucks or cars! 

12/31 Saturday 8pm-1am - Dance the night away to live music, and then enjoy the after midnight breakfast buffet.  Music by Vanilla Cornbread.  Purchase tickets in advance at T-Bones on the Lake.

12/31 Saturday 8pm-1am - Enjoy the best made-from-scratch cocktails in the Lake Wylie area, music and dancing at the Lotus Bar and Eatery in Gastonia.

12/31 Saturday 7pm-1am - Looking for a fun New Year's event?  Tega Cay's New Year Gala at the Glennon Community Center, with an elegant dinner buffet and champagne.  Proceeds benefit the Lion's Club.

 

Month of January 2012 - Lake Wylie Activities and Events

1/6 Thursday - Allison Creek Bluegrass, first and third Thursday of each month, corner of Hands Mill Road and Allison Creek Road.  Different bands are featured each night, along with open jam sessions.  Food is available beginning 6:30pm.

1/12 Thursday 8pm - Clover School District Auditorium Performing Arts Series features The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, one of the most beloved "big bands" of all time.

1/14 Saturday 9pm - The Sylvia Theater in York presents "Al and Amy", an award-winning acoustic guitar duo . 

1/15 Thursday - Allison Creek Bluegrass, first and third Thursday of each month, corner of Hands Mill Road and Allison Creek Road.  Different bands are featured each night, along with open jam sessions. Carolina Bluegrass Association recognition evening; begins at 5pm.

1/19 Thursday 7pm - Clover School District Auditorium Performing Arts Series features the Tarraddiddle Players in their slapstick spin on The Commedia Cinderella.  The whole family will love this one!
